The partnership will enable Ontario-wide prescription fulfillment and delivery for Airvet members

Through the partnership, pet parents enrolled in Airvet can connect with a veterinarian online for advice and triage and, when appropriate, receive prescription medication delivered directly to their door. In Ontario, Novel will fulfill and deliver approved prescriptions on a next day basis, seven days a week, with no additional delivery fee to the pet parent.

Airvet has supported more than 1.7 million pet families globally and is now responding to growing Canadian demand for accessible and affordable virtual veterinary care.

“Novel is rethinking how veterinary care is delivered, not simply where it is delivered,” said Paul Sassos, Head of Finance and Operations at Airvet. “Their combination of technology, clinical expertise and commitment to accessibility made them a natural partner as we expand Airvet’s support to pet families in Canada.”

Extending care beyond the four walls of a clinic

Founded in 2024 by co-founders Dr. Brendon Laing and Emma Harris, Novel opened its pilot clinic in Burlington in April 2025 with a foundational belief that all pets deserve care, unconditionally.

Novel delivers on that mission through a subscription-based membership model, expanded utilization of Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs), technology-enabled care delivery and Bo’s Fund, an internal fund used by Novel staff to improve animal welfare and help eliminate economic euthanasia.

The Airvet partnership represents the next step in that approach: using technology to extend Novel’s clinical capabilities beyond its physical location and make veterinary care more accessible to pet families across Ontario.

Over the past six months, Novel’s Head of Engineering, Dennis Turko, and his team have developed and deployed a fully automated inventory management system combining readily available hardware with custom AI-native software.

For Novel clients, the system enables at-home prescription delivery and autoship, making it easier for pet parents to receive and maintain the medications their pets need.

Medication adherence is a significant challenge in veterinary medicine. By reducing the logistical barriers between prescribing a medication and getting it into a pet’s home, Novel aims to make following a veterinary treatment plan easier.

“A veterinary clinic should not be limited by the four walls of the building,” said Emma Harris, Co-Founder and CEO of Novel. “Novel has always been committed to improving access to care. Partnering with Airvet allows us to extend our clinical expertise and technology to pet families across Ontario while making it easier for people to follow through on the care their pets need.”

The partnership marks another step in Novel’s broader effort to rethink how veterinary medicine is delivered - combining people, technology and new models of care to improve access for pets and their families.
