Novel is creating a new standard of accessible veterinary medicine through our technician-led approach. This proprietary (indeed, novel) way of operating allows us to increase our veterinary output without compromising on the quality of medicine or appointment duration. Our operators are all owners, creating an aligned long-term interest between corporate and patient interest.

PRACTICING TEAM-BASED MEDICINE
Novel believes that veterinary medicine is ready to redistribute delivery of care in order to improve efficiency and accessibility. At Novel, RVTs operate all wellness and minor illness concerns. They are trained to assess the patient, facilitate a proposed treatment plan, and transfer the patient to the treatment area for the DVM to modify or confirm the RVT evaluation. The client is able to watch as the patient is transferred and assessed by the veterinarian through floor-to-ceiling windows, however the RVT is managing the entirety of the client relationship.
We believe that fully leveraging the talent of RVTs is the key to unlocking more value in veterinary medicine. This allows us to offer radical pricing (i.e.: no exam fees), creating more accessible veterinary medicine for everyone. It also facilitates the ability for the veterinarian to focus solely on what veterinarians were trained to do.
ABOUT THE VETERINARY ASSISTANT ROLE
Novel opened the doors to its inaugural location, located at 561 Brant Street in Burlington, Ontario, on April 11, 2025. Our Veterinary Assistant (VA), in partnership with the entire team, plays a pivotal role in delivering effective medicine.
Our VAs play an imperative role supporting our Veterinarians and RVTs. Given Novel’s proprietary team-based approach to medicine, superior communication skills, a bias to action and maintenance of a cool, collected approach is imperative for success. The VA conducts themselves with incredible professionalism and competence, and has a positive outlook with a willingness to go above and beyond for patients.
The VA contributes to the establishment of foundational corporate culture. They are excited by the prospect of building a brand - not just a clinic - and have a flexible, proactive approach to their professional contributions. They are possibly interested in supporting the growth of the business, including policy and protocol development, training of staff, strategic planning initiatives, and more. We believe that a minimum of two years of working experience is required, but don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re a superstar!

$40,000-47,000/year
