BURLINGTON, ON – In the name of improving access to care, Novel has become the first veterinary clinic in Canada to offer an interest-free, no cost Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) program for pet owners. Launching September 8, this option lets members split veterinary expenses into four equal, interest-free payments with no credit checks or interviews required.

Many pet owners have felt the stress and uncertainty of facing a large veterinary bill with the pressure to pay it all at once. Being required to pay upfront can sometimes delay or even prevent pets from receiving necessary care.

“Veterinary medicine is one of the last remaining industries that requires upfront payment of a large bill in full. This is just not realistic for many pet owners today; we need to think of alternative financing options that make payment easier, not more expensive” says Emma Harris, Co-Founder of Novel. 

Novel’s new BNPL program eliminates that financial barrier. Members can opt to pay through BNPL for any procedure up to $2,500 (with plans to increase this amount over time) over a period of eight weeks. There is no credit check required; approval will be granted through a successful online application which can be completed during the appointment in a matter of minutes. BNPL will roll out initially at Novel’s inaugural clinic in Burlington, Ontario, with plans to expand to all new locations, including the upcoming Ancaster clinic opening in spring 2026. 

This initiative is part of Novel’s ongoing commitment to making veterinary care accessible and affordable. By removing financial barriers, pet owners can feel supported in prioritizing their pets’ health without delay.
